Welcome to Richard Sumner Frames

Having been in business since 1972, we are one of the oldest businesses in the area, and the only remaining frame shop in downtown Palo Alto. Our unique aesthetic and design helps us stand out. In addition to custom framing, artwork and artifacts from Turkey, Thailand, Morocco, and India, among others, adorn our showroom—visiting us is like a trip to the museum! Each piece of art in our shop is hand selected by us, so anything you find is something we would proudly display in our own home.

Our team

Mahmut Keskekci

After meeting his future wife, Norma, and immigrating from Turkey to the United States over 30 years ago, Mahmut met Richard Sumner and learned that his real passion lies in art and framing—not in Electrical Engineering as his degree would suggest. He worked with Richard for 16 years and eventually purchased the business in 2000. He is the primary designer at Richard Sumner Frames and with his experience designing and building thousands of frames for local residences and businesses like Stanford University and Stanford Hospital, you can be sure you’ll be in good hands.

Heather Jones

Being an artist herself, Heather couldn’t be happier to work with museum-grade art on a regular basis, not to mention being part of a team with such a sincere dedication to its craft. She has been framing for over 30 years and has been with Richard Sumner Frames for roughly 12 years.

Jaime Munoz

Jaime has been with Richard Sumner Frames for over 20 years. During his tenure, he has not only honed his craft in custom framing, but he is also responsible for managing all installations for the business. He has installed custom frames in San Francisco and all over the Mid-Peninsula including Atherton, Menlo Park, and Palo Alto.

Norma Dettamanti

After leaving her demanding career in the corporate world, Norma decided to join her husband, Mahmut, by managing the backend operations of the business. She and Mahmut travel the world and hand select beautiful pieces of art, ceramics, textiles, and more to sell in their shop.
